Baywood’s continued business growth has led to an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Logistics and Timber Processing Team Leader to join our team. This position will report directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics, warehousing, by-product management, and kiln drying operations to support the efficiencies of both production and logistics. Along with leading a team you will also perform tasks of freight loading and unloading, forklift operations, kiln drying schedules and by-product processing, ensuring smooth and safe operations while supporting overall business objectives, with safety and quality at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing freight
- Supervise forklift operations within your team and ensure compliance with company policies
- Monitor truck driver compliance with CoR Regulations and company policies
- Oversee yard storage ensuring safety and organisation to maximise storage efficiency
- Supervise by-product operations to ensure production demands are met
- Manage the disposal of by-products and waste by liaising with the production team and contractors
- Manage the kiln charge process including the loading, unloading, drying schedules, quality checks and troubleshooting issues
- Commitment to occasional weekend and after hours work for monitoring of kiln charge process
- Understanding and demonstration of LEAN manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve processes
- Maintain compliance with quality assurance standards for all outgoing freight
- Facilitate and attend daily pre-start meetings to ensure priorities are aligned with operational requirements
- Comply with all safety policies and processes to ensure your safety and the safety of others

About you:
- Safety focus
- Ideally previous experience in a similar role within a timber or manufacturing environment
- Experienced forklift operator with current High Risk Licence - LF
- Understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing
- Proven leadership abilities – support, motivate and trust
- Ability to prioritise tasks and to delegate where appropriate
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to meet targets
- Strong problem-solving skills
